Village Litewsk

From written sources it is known from the 16th century as a Lithuanian village in Trok voivodeship, Grand Duchy of Lithuania. It belonged to the Catholic Church. In 16-17 c. it was a village in Borodycze parish, Brest district. Mentioned in 1554 in the census book of Pinsk and Klieck principalities. In the Invetar of Borodycze parish in 1558, the village of Litewskie had 14 houses, its income was 8 kopecks and 19 groszy Lithuanian. In 1720-40 it is mentioned as Litewski Klucz. Since 1891 2 villages Litewsk in Pierkowicze parish, Kobryn district, belonged: the first to the estate Stefant of landlord Feliks Jagmin, the second to the estate Ziolow of landlord Tutkiewicz. In total there were 296 auditor’s souls (state villagers).

From 1795 it was a part of Russian Empire, in Kobryn district, Slonim, from 1797 Lithuanian, from 1801 Grodno province. The village on Schubert’s map of 1826-1840:

In 1890, in Wolowiel parish, the villages of Litewsk-Wielki and Litewsk-Maly, in the Litewsk village community. There were 494 tithes of usable land. The village is on the map in one-turn:

In 1905 the village was situated in Wolowiel parish, had 580 inhabitants and an elementary school. From 1921 to 1939 it was a part of Poland, in Wolowiel commune, Drohiczyn district, Poleskie voivodeship. In 1921 there were 27 households and 168 inhabitants. The village is on the Polish WIG map:

From 04.12.1939 there were 118 households and 582 inhabitants in Drohiczyn district, Pinsk region, part of BSSR. There was a working elementary school and a post office. From 15.01.1940 in Drohiczyn district, from 12.10.1940 till 12.12.1970 the center of the village council. The collective farm named after “May 1” was founded. The village on the map of Rem Army:

During the Great Patriotic War 22 inhabitants of the village died, 19 at the front. Since 1954 in Brest region. In 1960 there were 405 inhabitants, in 1970 - 429 inhabitants, in 1995 - 151 courtyards 354 inhabitants.
